The watch, aptly named God of Time, boasts a tourbillon that spins at an astonishingly rapid rate of four seconds per rotation, making it five times faster than traditional one-minute tourbillons. This groundbreaking innovation also surpasses the Franck Muller Thunderbolt by a full second, solidifying its position as the world's fastest tourbillon. With an impressive 60-hour power reserve on a single wind, the God of Time is a true weekend companion.
This remarkable creation is the brainchild of Jacob & Co., a New York-based watch and jewelry maker renowned for its tourbillon expertise. The company has developed the new JCAM60 caliber from scratch, specifically tailored to break the record for the fastest tourbillon rotation. The tourbillon carriage's design is a masterpiece of engineering, featuring a lightweight titanium construction that reduces energy consumption, resulting in a mere 0.27 grams in weight. This innovative design propels the carriage to speeds 15 times faster than the classic 60-second tourbillon.
The movement is not just a marvel of speed but also an aesthetic wonder. The sapphire bridge provides a transparent view of the intricate inner workings, while an aventurine slab beneath the carriage creates a starry backdrop, making the various components stand out. The balance wheel is adorned with eight gold weights, and the hairspring features a Breguet overcoil, adding to the watch's intricate beauty.
The God of Time is more than just a technical marvel. Inspired by ancient Greek temples, it showcases mythical elements. At the center of the dazzling blue aventurine dial is a miniature rose-gold sculpture of Chronos, the ancient Greek god of time. Crafted with meticulous detail, the deity measures 37 mm in length and was engraved by hand, capturing the intricate details of his hair, muscles, beard, toga, and even fingernails. The 44.25 mm rose-gold case, with its Ionic-style pillars and ribbed caseband, pays homage to a god's temple. The caseback features the face and signature of founder and chairman Jacob Arabo on a blued sapphire crystal, marking his 60th birthday.
